Pricing and free usage
Pay from prepaid credits at about half of provider list, or per call with x402.
Prepaid credits
One credit is one dollar, and credits never expire. Buy them in your account, or with POST /api/v1/account/credits/purchase. A key with a balance pays any endpoint. Your first purchase adds a bonus; see Pricing.
How calls are billed
Chat and Messages bill per token at each model's rates. Images bill per image, and video bills per render. The live rates are on the model menus: Models.
A chat call reserves a ceiling first: your input plus the max_tokens you set. It then settles for what you used and refunds the rest. Set max_tokens near the output you expect.
Daily free usage
Every account with a key gets a free allowance each day on Chat Completions. It covers a catalog of free models, and frontier models up to an output cap. It resets at midnight UTC.
Send clawhunter/freeto use the day's featured free model. Eligible calls use the allowance on their own, and the billing note says when a call was free. Smart Router never draws on it.
Pay per call with x402
No account needed. An unpaid call answers 402 with its price and the accepted payment options. Pay, then send the call again. Messages, streaming, and Smart Router need a prepaid key instead.
